Utrecht railway station area
The dynamic area around Utrecht’s main railway station – the most central meeting place in the Netherlands – is a popular office location. Public transport is easily accessible and the new Hoog Catharijne shopping complex, the Beatrix Theater, the international exhibition centre Jaarbeurs and the historic city centre are all within walking distance. Schiphol Airport can be reached in just 30 minutes from the recently renovated Utrecht Central Station.
Current developments will result in the city centre expanding towards the west of the railway station. The planning is underpinned by the principle of healthy, smart urbanisation that affords access to a good mix of facilities. The design of the highly sustainable building ‘Wonderwoods’ in the Healthy Urban Quarter exemplifies the overall approach: a balanced environment where people, nature and technology come together in harmony.
The expansion will see a substantial increase in office space. VodafoneZiggo decided to locate its headquarters here in 2017 and a WTC arrived at the start of 2018.
